How do sessions work?

Anna takes tons of fantastic images of you within your session.  She makes sure there is plenty of variety and choices that you will get to see during your order appointment.

Most indoor studio sessions last 30 minutes to an hour, newborn sessions and high school seniors can sometimes last up to 3 hours.

Be sure to bring along your favorite things. The extras are what make your session unique and different than others. If you have specific ideas or wants please be sure to share them with Anna or with Kris during your in person or phone consultation. Feel free show us pictures of specific things you like. More than anything, Anna wants to make sure you get portraits you love, and she and the staff work hard to make that happen.

Family sessions are limited to one outfit and most families choose to do indoor images. If an outdoor location within 10 miles of the studio is requested Anna will just need to be aware of your request at the time of booking.  Any location over 10 miles can be discussed so that we can accommodate.

Children sessions are normally given 2 outfit changes. But feel free to bring along additional outfits, hats and props, we will help you narrow down outfits and if your child is doing great we may be able to do more.

For Newborn session we ask that parents bring along any special blankets or props from the baby’s nursery. (such as a big stuffed animal,  a rocking horse, or chair).  No need to bring any outfits along, they are typically too big and only take away from the beautiful baby we are wanting to show off! But we do suggest to bring along any headbands, bows, or hats you have. We too, have a huge selection of headbands available for use during sessions, but we love ETSY.COM!

How do consultations work?

We ask that all clients allow for either an In-Person Consultation  or Phone Consultation prior to your session. The consultation process can take anywhere from 30 min-1hr. At this time we will discuss clothing choice, what you are looking for from the session, how can we create a custom experience for you, and what you plan to do with your portraits after they are completed. We will also take the time to go over our products and prices so that you are completely aware of what your options are. This is an extra service we are providing to you, at no charge, to ensure the best possible outcome for your investment.

What is a session fee?

A session fee is what the photographer charges for the service of taking photos. Some photographers refer to this fee as a ‘sitting fee’. There, of course, is a lot more to this than simply pointing the camera and snapping a photo but in the simplest terms, you are paying for the photographers and expertise.

Our session fees vary for each type of client.

  • Children – $100
  • Immediate Family – $100
  • Newborn – $100
  • High School Seniors – $100/outfit
  • Boudoir – $200
  • Extended Families – session fee included in packages
  • Professional Business and Branding – session fee included in packages

Our session fee covers the following:

  • in-person or phone consultation
  • the photographer
  • an assistant (when needed)
  • on-location or in-studio shoot
  • props
  • hair styling and make up (when applicable)
  • image reveal and order appointment
What will my investment be?

We do require a minimum investment of $500 on newborn, children, couples, family and senior sessions. For more information or additional questions, please email or call the studio.

What are your most popular times?

At our studio we are always busy and we suggest trying to schedule your session at least a month in advance, but give us a call and we may be able to get you in sooner.

We like to photograph sessions between 10 am and 3 pm. We have found we capture our best work during those hours of the day.

June, July, and August are busy months for high school senior sessions. We suggest being photographed during these months for a few reasons:  1. kids are out of school    2. sports typically have not started yet, so we are not interfering with games or practices.   3. meeting yearbook deadlines.     4. our schedule is more flexible.

September, October, November, December– Everyone seems to want fall colors and orders back for the holiday season.  Sessions during this time of the year book quickly because we are photographing seniors, families, children and weddings and all sessions are trying for the same time slot… after school/work. During the fall months the latest time we can take sessions is 3pm. We are a natural light studio so beautiful sun light is what we need to produce the images you see here.

The best part about our studio is that you don’t have to wait till fall to get fall colors! We can give you those rich warm colors any time of the year! Just ask us.

Are you open on the weekends or evenings?

At our studio we are always busy and we suggest trying to schedule your session at least a month in advance, but give us a call and we may be able to get you in sooner.

Saturdays are limited and are appointment only.  We do not take evening appointments; Like we mentioned above, we are a natural light studio, without sun light we cannot produce the same look we have become known for.

We do not accept any appointments on Sundays.

How much retouching and artwork will you do?

All of our work includes retouching blemishes, stray hairs, scars and under eye circles. On special requests we can do more extensive artwork for an additional charge. But, everything that leaves our studio will be retouched to perfection.

What do I wear?

Seniors:

  • Bring a couple of extra outfits, Anna will help you narrow down
  • Accessories, Accessories, Accessories!!!
  • Trendy outfits are GREAT, but bring something classic as well
  • A plain t-shirt and jeans are always in style
  • Boys: make sure your shoes are clean
  • Black looks great on everyone!
  • Avoid sleeveless tops
  • Bring as many props as you would like
  • Bring your ideas! NEVER be afraid to mention an idea to Anna
  • Don’t be afraid to be different!
  • Make sure nails are neat (toenails too!)
  • Parents: Think about what room you will be displaying your portraits, have one outfit that coordinates with that room

Families and Couples:

We recommend sticking with neutral colors, such as navy, grey, brown, tans, and creams, but Anna loves color.  Do not be afraid to go bold.  Anna will help you with finding the perfect look.  We do want you to avoid bright white or dark black, unless you are layering with another item of clothing in another color. Make sure to coordinate with each other.  Right now textures and layers are in, so don’t be afraid to think a little outside the box or even spice it up with color in your accessories (shoes, hats, vests, scarves, headbands, jewelry, etc) If you’d like to see some of our Pinterest recommendations you can find it HERE.

Children:

There are no rules with children! Fun bright colors, layers, and over the top cuteness!

Maternity:

Show off that baby bump! Don’t be afraid to wear form fitting outfits. You can also bring along a longer sweaters that is typically used as lighter layer or cardigan. Bring a pair of NON-MATERNITY jeans (don’t worry if you can’t button them…no one can at 7 to 8 months pregnant!)

And don’t forget your undergarments. A nude colored bra and underwear is great, but also bring along something cute too. Color and Lace are still beautiful on mommies- to- be too!

For Dads or any additional family members,  be sure to bring along a few neutral long sleeve shirts as well. We would love to incorporate you in this session too!

Hair and Make Up:

We recommend having your hair or make up done professionally for any portrait. It makes all the difference in the end result.

Anna will choose where we go for outdoor portraits.

We can go anywhere within the county that you like. Most of the time Anna choose the location based on your outfit selections. We want areas that coordinate with the clothing and style you’ve selected to bring with you.  Anna is great about finding new spots to use and tries hard not to take you to the same locations as your friends.  We realize every session is special, so if there is a specific place you have in mind let us know. We love new locations!

What if it rains the day of my session?

If you planned to have some images made outdoors but it looks like rain or wind, call before you leave and we’ll decide if we need to reschedule the outdoor photographs. Regardless, we’ll still do the indoor images. Keep in mind summer and autumn showers come and go quickly it might we raining where you are but sunny skies here. There are a few times a year that rescheduling is necessary and we will accommodate the best we can.

What about high school yearbook photos?

Your yearbook image will be sent to the school free of charge. Don’t worry if the school calls you month before the deadline and tells you in has not been received. We don’t send anyone’s image to the school until the week of.  We promise you it will be delivered!

When will I be able to see and order my portraits?

The possibilities are endless with your images. Traditional or out of the world, it’s all what you want and like.

That said, there are A LOT of options. To help you, we invite you to return to the studio about 7-10 days later. You’ll not only see your images in a variety of sizes, but we will walk you through your many options so you can make a comfortable and educated decision.

This image reveal appointment is very helpful for clients. Back in the 90’s, clients were stuck choosing options from a stack of 4×5 proofs. No More. With digital photography, you’re now able to virtually see the finished product before ordering it – size and color, just like it will look on your wall.

Here, Kris will help you sort out your favorites, listen to your wants, steer you clear of unnecessaries, and custom design a portrait package that saves you money. This helpful process allows you to note all the pros and cons of each image and find the best possible price for the images you want.

Bring along anyone that you want to be a part of the decision making process, we do insist that all decision makers are involved in the order appointment because you’ll be placing your order at this time.

Because of our very full schedule we cannot always accommodate a second ‘view and order’ appointment nor do we allow for ‘proofs’ to leave the studio under any circumstance.

When will my finished portraits be done?

When you’ve finalized and paid your order in full, we will start processing your portrait order.

We understand the importance of why you’ve chosen us for your portraits. To ensure your portraits are a level above others, each image is hand retouched and enhanced in meticulous detail before being printed. Each image is protected with a pressure laminate to ensure quality for generations to come and presented to you in a professional portfolio box.

Typical orders take 6 weeks to complete. You will be notified by phone that your order is complete and ready for pick up.

What's up with the $250 reservation?

The reservation is required to hold and confirm your appointment time and date.  It is not lost, but applied to your account as a credit and will be waiting for your use when placing your order.

Anna is in great demand for portraits and because a lot of people request these times we must receive the reservation to hold your appointment.  If something comes up and you need to reschedule, your reservation will follow your rescheduled appointment.

We are happy to take any credit card over the phone (this works great because then it’s done and you don’t have to take the chance of forgetting to mail the check).

If canceling, we require 14 days notice to receive your reservation back in full.

Do you offer baby plans or 1 year plans?

YES!  We offer 1 year plans that are perfect for newborns, children and families.

For our newborn plans, we typically capture the milestones moments (newborn, 4mo, 8mo, 1yr). This plan is designed to capture all the stages/changes in that first year (tummy time, sitting, standing, etc.) Immediate family members are welcome to participate in any of the sessions over the year.

For Children and Family 1 year plans, you can choose when throughout the year to come in for your sessions. Most people who choose these plans come in for birthday sessions, seasonal photos, and holiday memories.

For all 1 year plans, at the end of the year you can use your product credit for any of our albums, wall art, or custom products.
